The 7 questions you asked us at the NEC

The Caravan, Camping & Motorhome Show at the NEC Birmingham was a brilliant few days. It was a real pleasure meeting so many of you, talking through your caravan mattress concerns, testing motorhome mattress comfort and helping you find caravan bedding that actually fits.
If you stopped by to see us, thank you. And if you did not manage to visit, here are the most common questions we were asked on the stand this year.
1. Do your caravan mattresses come any shallower?

This was one of the most common questions.
Our standard caravan mattress and motorhome mattress depth is around 8 to 9 inches, similar to a mattress at home. They are made to a domestic standard, designed for long term comfort, and come with a five year guarantee. For many caravan or motorhome owners, that extra support makes a noticeable difference to back pain and overall sleep quality.
However, we understand that some layouts need flexibility. Drop down beds, awkward windows or higher platforms can make a deeper mattress impractical. In those cases, we can fit shallower springs. Our Classic Pocket and Premium Hybrid caravan mattresses can be reduced to around 6 inches, and our Signature Natural motorhome mattresses to around 7 inches. The spring gauge is adjusted to maintain the same level of support, so comfort is not compromised. Simply request shallow springs when placing your order.
2. Do you make caravan mattresses for my specific model?

In short, yes.
Since 2006, we have built a detailed database of caravan bed and motorhome bed sizes covering major manufacturers. We measure layouts at every NEC show to keep that information accurate and up to date.
You do not need to measure your caravan bed yourself. Whether you have a French bed, island bed, hinged base or a shaped cut out, we can make our entire range of caravan mattresses and bedding and motorhome mattresses and bedding to fit perfectly. Everything is handcrafted in our Lancashire workshop, so we are not restricted by size or shape.
3. How does the Snoovy work?

The Snoovy was another popular topic.
It works in a similar way to a premium sleeping bag, but it is made from soft 200 thread count cotton rather than noisy synthetic fabric. A standard double duvet fits inside, with part of the duvet underneath you and part on top. The layer underneath adds softness, almost like a light caravan topper, and the top layer keeps you warm.
You simply insert the duvet as you would with a normal cover and zip it closed. It makes up in seconds, which is ideal for bunks and front double beds. For families or anyone who finds daily bed making frustrating, it simplifies the whole process.
4. Will a caravan topper fix my mattress?
A caravan topper or motorhome topper can be a good solution, but it depends on the condition of the mattress underneath.
If your caravan mattress feels slightly firm or has minor surface imperfections, a topper can add cushioning and extend its life. Many people find it is a cost effective improvement.
However, if the mattress has significant dips, cracks or is too soft, a topper will follow the same shape and will not correct the issue. In cases of roll together or poor underlying support, replacing the caravan mattress or motorhome mattress is usually the better long term solution.
5. Will a motorhome mattress be too heavy for my payload?
Weight is a genuine concern, especially when it comes to European touring.
Our mattresses are built to a domestic standard, but we are mindful of vehicle limits. We can advise on weight before you order and recommend constructions that balance support and practicality. Pocket sprung caravan mattresses often offer excellent comfort without being excessively heavy, and hybrid memory foam designs can reduce overall load while maintaining durability.
If payload is a serious worry, it is always worth having a conversation before you decide.
6. Will your caravan bedding stay in place?

Ill fitting caravan bed sheets were a common frustration at the show.
Standard rectangular sheets often bunch up on shaped caravan beds or motorhome beds. Our fitted sheets are made specifically to the mattress shape, including angled corners on French beds and curved island ends. This helps prevent slipping and reduces the need to constantly readjust your bed linen.
The result is smoother caravan bedding, better comfort and a bed that looks neat for longer.
7. Is upgrading really worth it?
This question often comes quietly.
Many owners have simply accepted that a caravan mattress will never feel like home. But after trying our motorhome mattress in person, the difference is usually obvious. Better support can reduce aches, improve sleep and make longer trips more enjoyable.
When your caravan bed feels comfortable and your motorhome bedding fits properly, your vehicle becomes somewhere you genuinely relax, not just somewhere you sleep.
