We all know that when it comes to some British sunshine, we’re never massively prepared for scorching hot sun, as no-one tends to have Air Conditioning within their homes in the UK. Therefore, when it comes to sleeping in this heat, it can become a little frustrating.

However, we have some three handy hints that you can use in order to keep the heat away and hopefully get those forty winks we all need so desperately.

Keep Curtains Shut! – Did you know that you can keep a surprising amount of heat out of your bedroom by keeping your windows and curtains closed through-out the day? Though, make sure that when the temperature drops in the evening, that you throw those windows wide as you can, as you’ll notice a cool breeze entering the bedroom.

Use Fans! – Even though in Britain we don’t have Air Conditioning within our homes, we quite often own fans. These can become modified A/C by popping a bowl of ice in front of the fan, which then circulates cold air. Also, when the temperature cools down in the evening, open those windows and keep those fans on, which will eventually circulate the warmer air out of the property!

Natural Fibres! – You can improve temperature control and breathability by having all natural fibres surrounding you at night. From your mattress to your pyjamas, having materials like 100% cotton and silk on/in the bed at night will be hugely more breathable than any man-made fibres like Polyester.

How do you prepare for a decent night’s sleep when the weather turns hot? Have you got any top tips? If so, we would love to hear them, let us know in the comment section!
